Increasing the continuity of connection
My current focus is on the first of the two core exercises described by JWH, specifically on the continuity of connection. I recently compared notes with a friend who is also following the JWH approach to recovery, and is in fact well into the stage of recovery symptoms. He helped me identify a key adjustment or addition I can make. I suspect it may provide a real boost to my practice! I'll likely have more to say about that in an upcoming post.
For now I just want to provide this link to a section of a website devoted to all things Yogananda. The topic is “practicing the presence of God” a phrase readers of JWH's books may remember from Janice's discussions of the 17th century friar Brother Lawrence and his book, Spiritual Maxims: Practicing the Presence of God. (If you prefer, please just substitute your “Friend” for “God.”)
In SOP (2017, p. 192) JWH says, “The main point that Brother Lawrence makes is that one should always be talking to God. Always.” That can be a challenge! But that section of the Yogananda site provides inspiring nuggets to help get started. See what you think.
And please contact me with any ideas you may have come up with for increasing that continuity of connection or maintaining the dialogue throughout the day. I'm always interested!
